SCHEDULING THE SESSION
HOW DO I BOOK A PHOTO SESSION WITH YOU?
FiFill out my contact form here, let me know all the details you have, and I’ll get back to you within 2-3 working days. Keep in mind that my weekend dates fill up1-2 months in advance in the spring and early summer, and 2 months in advance for the fall/Christmas season.
WHAT IS THE BEST TIME OF DAY FOR OUR SESSION?
If we are having the session outside, then I recommend scheduling the session for early morning, or late afternoon, avoiding the harsh midday sunshine. For indoor sessions, anytime during the day as I only use natural light. We can always work around your child’s nap schedule as our hope is to avoid the grumpy faces too ;)
WHEN SHOULD WE SCHEDULE OUR NEWBORN SESSION?
Let’s get you booked and in my calendar before your due date, and then once the baby is born we will schedule the exact date and time for your session. I prefer to do newborn sessions with between 2 to 8 weeks olds. Babies around 2 weeks can be very sleepy setting us up nicely for more sleeping baby photos. Babies of 3+ weeks are still super young but are more awake and we will be able to get more amazing moments with their bright eyes wide open or keeping contact with the parents. Newborn sessions are scheduled for weekdays or a weekend time depending on availability. I don’t bring props and use only swaddles and blankets you have at home. I focus more on the naturally occurring and sweet moments of this brief and amazing time.
WHERE SHOULD WE HAVE OUR SESSION?
Anywhere! For family sessions, we can stay home where it’s comfortable and yours, or take a walk in your neighborhood or your favourite places in the city. Or we can go on the adventurous side and explore a new place or neighborhood. We can even fit in a half indoor half outdoor session! For newborn sessions, we will be in the comfort of your home.
THE SESSION
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE OUR HOME AND US?
You don’t have to do a darn thing if you don’t want to! Remember my main goal here is to capture your family the way you are in real life, not the perfect Instagram life that apparently everyone else has – but no one actually does. I will also send you an e-mail one week before your date, where I will let you know every detail. But hey, no stress! Having no expectations, slowing down, and being present is the way to go.
EEK! I GET WEIRD IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA!
Me too! That’s why I’m behind the camera ;) Just kidding. But for real, we all get a little weird and awkward in front of the camera. My only and BEST tip is to focus on your kids and what’s fun for them. They are literally the best at pulling grown-ups out of their heads and into the moment. Allow them (and then do what they are doing!) to explore, ask questions, laugh, and be goofy, and that will make you smile those real smiles too. I will help you all out by directing a little, but I also like to step back and observe your family magic :) Be ready to have this photo shoot be a time for you to focus 100% of your attention on your kids, and the reward will be real, honest, and happy photos!
HOW LONG WILL THE PHOTO SESSION TAKE?
A family session is about an hour, but sometimes 1.5 hours is needed. We wont rush, but kids get tired after a while, so I like to keep it flexible and plan around the needs of the children. Newborn sessions are similar in time frame, but I’m happy to be there for up to 3 hours, allowing for extra time for breaks, feeding, and changing.
WHAT IF IT RAINS ON THE DAY WE ARE SCHEDULED FOR OUR SESSION? DO I NEED TO CANCEL?
I keep my eyes on the weather channel app and we will stay in touch until the last minute. Many times the rain will let up and we can shift our time up or back a couple hours to work around the weather. It can be pretty obvious when it will just be a very rainy day, and when that happens we will reschedule the session to another day.
AFTER THE SESSION
WHEN AND HOW WILL I GET TO SEE MY PHOTOS?
My turn around time for editing is max. 3 weeks after our session. I will send you a link to your gallery of final photos.
WILL YOU RETOUCH THE PHOTOS AND MAKE ME LOOK SKINNIER?
Well no, not exactly. But all the photos are edited to meet my high standards. I do take care of small, non permanent blemishes, and I take great care into bringing out the best tones and colors because I see each photo as being a piece of art that beautifully represents your family.
HOW MANY FINAL PHOTOS WILL BE IN OUR GALLERY?
I guarantee 50-80 final images, though I’ve been known to throw in more ;) Know that all the good ones are there! They will be presented in an online photo gallery, where you can select your 20+ photos.
HOW DO I LET YOU KNOW WHICH COLLECTION I WANT?
Once your gallery is delivered, you will have 10 days to decide on which digital/print collection you want. Let me know your selection via email. After the payment is received, the products in your collection will be delivered to you.
CAN I ORDER PRINTS?
Yes you can! After selecting your collection, you can order prints, wooden photo holder, photo books or canvases. Here is my shop where you can see all my products.
WHAT IF I’M NOT HAPPY WITH THE PHOTOS?
Well if you’re not happy, then neither am I! And I will work with you to sort it out so that we are all happy!
